February is not only the month of love, but it is also Heart Awareness Month. Your heart does more physical work than any other muscle in your body. It is the center of your circulatory system and it drives your conditioning for every Tone House class.

A normal resting heart rate for adults ranges from 60 to 100 beats per minute. Generally speaking, a lower heart rate at rest implies more efficient heart function and better cardiovascular fitness.

The Advanced Recovery sessions at Tone House revolve around not only managing soreness or aches/pains but also managing your body as a whole. Hands-on soft tissue therapy, the Theragun, and the pain pill can all help restore your heart rate after class. These tools dramatically affect the circulation in the body. More circulation in the target tissues means more healing.

There are many reasons for an elevated heart rate this month – the butterflies of love, three sprints followed by three gallops, or 180 drop-downs. Instead of struggling to control these palpitations, challenge yourself, down to your deepest heartstrings, to make time for more active recovery and unleash a better Athlete on the Turf.

XOXO,

Dr. Kam
