On Friday, November 17th, 2017, Men’s Health Magazine held their first annual #MHOpen competition. Billed as “a competition that will pit dozens of contestants against each other in tests of strength, power, and conditioning” by Men’s Health, trainers from across New York City converged upon Brick Grand Central to take part in the event.
Tone House competitors included Coaches Evan Betts, James McMillian, Adrian Williams, and Walter Derrig. It had the same kind of hype you’d expect if Delaware sportsbooks had put odds on the heats, with bench press, rowers, and long jump as the early qualifiers. After an exhausting circuit, Tone House Head Coach Adrian Williams advanced to face four others in box jumps, deadlifts, and the assault bike. After winning a 3-way tiebreaker, he placed 3rd overall behind Reinhard Nel of Dogpound (2nd) and Andre Crews of 151 Bay Crossfit (1st). Congrats to Coach Adrian!

One unique and amazing thing about this event was that many of the city’s top trainers got to finally meet one another face to face and the support and encouragement for each other throughout the competition was truly inspiring. The Tone House squad will be back in action for the next #MHOpen and will be sure to get our #Ladykiller Coaches in the mix next time as well.
