tone house workout
2 months ago, a few of our Tone House Athletes began a program created to help them Transform and become the best Athletes they can be. Now 60 days into their 90-day programs, these Athletes have been crushing the goals they set for themselves through Tone House Training, Fuel, and Recovery.
This is a must read, especially if you’re looking for motivation and inspiration as you create your custom 60-Day Challenge.
Each Athlete set out on their own personal journey to accomplish a health and fitness goal that was important to them and each Athlete had different motivations for participating in the TFRT program.  For instance, Jenna Longo, a former competitive figure skater, wanted to tone up and lose weight. Daniel Ridloff, a busy father of two, wanted to prove to his friends that he could live an overall healthier lifestyle while maintaining a hectic schedule. The TFRT program gave each Athlete structure in their daily routines and a 360-degree lifestyle approach to their health and fitness. Through training, nutrition and recovery at Tone House, each Athlete followed a schedule similar to that of an elite athlete that was integrated based on each of their busy lives outside the House.
A little over halfway through the program, we asked the TFRT Athletes a few questions about how their transformations are coming along:

What does your TFRT weekly program look like?

I’ve been taking class at Tone House 4 times a week, with one separate day of lifting. Going 4 times a week was very difficult in the beginning, just getting used to the volume of work in itself. The first few weeks, I started off taking two 101 classes and two regular classes a week. After a month, Zack programmed my schedule to take more regular classes and now mixing in Friday conditioning. The classes, whether they are 101 or regular, are still challenging since the programming everyday is different. As for my diet, I’ve been sticking with the Fuel for most of the week. For recovery, I’ll try to roll out after class and at home when I have time. I try to meet up with Dr. Kamraan once a week for some stretching and Theragun work.

How has the TFRT program enhanced your life off the Turf?

Being part of this program has helped me off the Turf by giving my schedule more structure and helping me be more disciplined. Sometimes at the end of a long day, it’s really easy to decide not to do a workout or make bad choices about what to eat. Since I have my workouts and meals planned at least a week in advance, it helps me stay on track and keep myself accountable. I’ve found that off the Turf, this has helped me stay more focused, set more clear goals with deadlines, and make sure I follow through on them.

What goals or milestones that you set for yourself have you hit already? How have you stayed motivated?

I started off the program at 190 lbs. and last weekend I weighed in at 179 lbs., which is the first time I’ve been under 180 lbs in 5 years. Tracking my weight and body fat and seeing it go down is definitely a great motivator for me and keeps me on course. All the support from the Coaches and other Athletes at Tone House have also been such a great help in keeping me focused on reaching my goals.

What goals do you want to achieve in the last month of the program?

I’d like to get my weight down to 175 lbs. and body fat under 17.5%. I have a business trip overseas coming up so I’m trying to figure out how I can find time to exercise between meetings and the best food options. Also, the holidays are usually a hard time to stay healthy – lots of parties, family gatherings, etc. But I figure if I can find a way to achieve my goals this time of the year, I could get it done any other time as well.

What does your TFRT weekly program look like?

Since beginning the program, I have upped my training to 4 or 5 days on the Turf! When I first started the program, I was a regular in the Tuesday Upper Body Day, and Thursday Total Body Day. Not too long after I started, I knew I wanted to begin to train more frequently the other days of the week as well. Outside of Tone House, I also continue to skate 3 days a week, mainly to keep my muscle memory up.

Tone House Fuel has been really helpful to me, especially since I am currently in my busy season at work. It has been great for me to be able to eat healthy without the stress and pressure of having to cook late at night and finding time to get to the grocery store. Tone House Fuel has allowed me to have more flexibility and balance based around when I am able to cook.

How has the TFRT program enhanced your life off the Turf?

The most frequently asked question I receive is “How are you feeling?” and let’s just say it’s an easy response! I feel incredible and I’m so happy. I feel more energized, stronger, & much more confident.  I finally feel like I am getting back to my old self. There is nothing quite like taking a 6:15 AM class and standing up for the first time at the office around 9:30 AM and feeling completely gassed (in a good way). There is nothing better than the feeling of knowing that you worked your butt off and wanting to do it all over again.

What goals or milestones that you set for yourself have you hit already? How have you stayed motivated?

My goals were to lose weight and to get myself back to being more toned/lean.  I grew up as a competitive figure skater and used to be physically active 75% of my days up until I started working.  My body has gone through some changes and I have a way to go, but this program has given me the kickstart and confidence I needed to realize I can still be the Athlete I always was. That being said, the commitment to wanting something and going after it is the goal I have hit.  Although my other goals are slowly getting there, we all know those don’t happen overnight.

What goals do you want to achieve in the last month of the program?

Besides making Coach Adrian proud as hell, I’d have to say just continuing to work my butt off and reach towards my goals, as well as taking advantage of the knowledge and expertise from the people on the team. I’m also very excited to hopefully compete in Turf Wars this year, and by compete, I mean REALLY compete.

What does your TFRT weekly program look like?

My weekly training program is currently 4-5 classes per week. It varies week to week dependent on what I did the prior week, etc. In terms of nutrition, I usually have TH Fuel for lunch Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday, as well as at least two dinners per week and one breakfast. My recovery schedule includes meeting with Dr. Kamraan once per week, as well as integrating the exercises that he prescribes me into my weekly routine.  I try my best to do those a couple of times per day.

How has the TFRT program enhanced your life off the Turf?

The biggest enhancement has been in my confidence in the class.  I used to be bottom tier in a regular NOMAD class, where I was a little intimidated to embark on some of the exercises.  I no longer have that mentality on the Turf!

What goals or milestones that you set for yourself have you hit already? How have you stayed motivated?

I have already hit 1 of my 3 fitness goals, with a 2nd close behind. I would say the two things that have motivated me the most since starting TFRT are one, Coach Christi who has been absolutely AMAZING, and two, seeing results that have kept me pushing and working out harder.  There’s nothing better than coming home and your wife saying “Wow, you look gooood!”

What goals do you want to achieve in the last month of the program?

I’ve been doing more than I possibly imagined the past two months. First and foremost, the ability to take 4 or sometimes 5 classes per week is way more than I imaged and was able to do 2 months ago.  Prior to the TFRT program, I was doing Tone House 2x per week MAX, slipping in other workouts as supplements that were way less intense. As for the workout itself, I have certainly improved in the warmup (evidenced by my place in the lineup) as well as the number of sandbags on the sleds for the varying sled exercises. My goal for the last month is to top this, somehow.  I’m sure the Coaches have ideas in mind, but already exceeding expectations isn’t good enough – it’s time to shatter those expectations!
